Abstract, Seascape, Equine & Resin Artist

I am a Perth-based contemporary artist and art teacher specialising in abstract oil painting, atmospheric seascapes, equine art, pet portraits and resin art. Working from my studio in Canning Vale, Western Australia, I create expressive, layered artworks inspired by movement, light, emotion and the raw beauty of the Australian landscape and coastline.

My practice is driven by texture, movement and atmosphere, exploring the balance between softness and strength, abstraction and form. Working predominantly in oils, alongside pastel and resin mediums, I build depth through rich colour, expressive mark-making and layered surfaces, creating works that invite both connection and interpretation.

I have been painting since childhood and formally studied Visual Arts at Edith Cowan University. After a successful 20-year career in business and accounting, I returned to art full-time in 2016, reconnecting with my lifelong creative practice and establishing Shannan Nicole Artist as my professional studio practice in Perth.

Alongside creating and exhibiting my own artwork, I am passionate about sharing the creative process through teaching. As the Owner of Shades & Co Studios – Creative Workshops by Shannan Nicole Artist, I offer a diverse range of hands-on creative experiences, including resin art workshops, abstract oil painting classes, pastel painting, pyrography, alcohol ink and other specialty workshops.My classes welcome complete beginners through to experienced creatives, with an emphasis on developing technique, encouraging experimentation and giving each person the confidence to develop their own individual creative style.

I am also the Founder of Shades Resin Co, a Western Australian-owned artist resin and pigment brand developed from years of hands-on studio experience, research and product testing. Shades Resin Co provides professional-quality resins, pigments and creative products designed specifically for artists and makers.

Today, my practice brings together the three areas I am most passionate about — creating art, teaching creativity and developing professional artist products — while continuing to grow my own body of contemporary artwork and exhibit throughout Western Australia.
